What is Squonking?
What is squonking? Squonking is a style of vaping which you use a bottom fed rebuildable RDA atomizer, and a squonking mod with the e-liquid held in a bottle inside it.
You can’t use any RDA, instead you’ll need a squonk ready RDA to squonk. The device is kind of like an all-in-one device, as they carry the e-liquid juice inside, so you don’t have to drip your e-liquid.
With squonking you get the flavor and clouds that you want from an RDA, and the bottom fed RDA and squonk bottle means you don’t need to worry about dripping your liquid.
With a squonk mod, you’ll get strong flavours, large clouds, and best of all they’re relatively cheap, meaning you can vape like a pro easily and with no big lay out.
How does a Squonking Device Work?
As already stated, squonking devices are made up of a squonking mod, and RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser), but they’re not just any RDAs.
Whereas other RDA mods use a drip down mechanism, Squonk ready RDAs use a bottom feed, and a 510 pin, which connects the RDA and squonk mod and feeds e-liquid up into the wick whenever you choose to vape. There will also be a single or dual battery inside the mod to help it operate.

So, now you know what squonking is and you have the equipment in place it’s time to look at how to squonk. We know that you need a specialized squonking mod, which hosts its own squonking bottle of juice.
Squonkers are either regulated or unregulated, also known as mechanical. A regulated squonk mod is best for anyone new to vaping as they have built in protection mechanisms, whereas mechanical mods need a bit of know-how to control.
Most experienced vapers prefer mechanical mods as you have more options with the settings and will be able to get the vape clouds and flavour of your choice, more easily.
To squonk, you need to press the squonk bottle and the juice will be delivered into the RDA through the hose or filler line, which is attached to the atomizer reservoir, which then soaks the wick with e-liquid.
Then simply press the button and vape away. This is squonking 101. After a short while, you will need to squeeze your squonk bottle to ensure your wick stays coated in juice.
Squonking Pros and Cons
Now that you know what squonking is, let's look at the pros and cons...
Pros
Squonking is great in that it makes it more convenient to vape, because you carry the bottle of juice inside your mod. And with capacities up to 10ml, most people can carry about at least a full day’s vape with them.
The bottles feed juice up your atomiser with a squeeze, so you can carry your squonker around without the fear of leaking. Simply squeeze your bottle and re-juice your wick, instead of removing the top and refilling as with other RDAs.
With good quality RDAs, including squonk ready RDAs, you can get better flavour and clouds, and once you’re used to the settings you like, you’ll be vaping like a pro in no time.
Cons
There aren’t many cons with squonking, as it’s a great and convenient way to vape, but if you’re new to vaping, or if you’ve vaped for a while but never used a squonk mod, you might struggle at first.
Don’t under or over-squonk or under-squonk. Both are easy to do when you don’t know what you’re doing.
Under-squonking happens when you don’t soak your wick enough, which results in you getting a dry hit. This might be a burnt taste or at the very least you’ll feel sudden, intense heat at the back of your throat. Both are dry hits and neither are nice.
On the other hand, over-squonking floods your deck, which can cause leaking and spit-back. It’s all trial and error, when you’re new to squonking, but you will find a happy medium and soon get used to it.
It can be messy refilling squonk bottle, especially the bottles you fill through the 510 pin. It’s best to get replacement bottles, as it’s cleaner and easier.
Squonking, Not Just for the Experienced
What is squonking? Well, there you have it. If you’re an experienced vaper, or new to the game, squonking is definitely worth a try. Sure, you’ll make some mistakes, but as with everything, you’ll get there.
There are squonkers available for all styles of vaping, and you have a massive choice of flavoured juices.
